Nice pics, Jack. The scariest part about that Me-262 photo is it looks like the plane could be sitting anywhere in the North Eastern US. That woods looks exactly like many of the wooded areas around where I live. It also looks a bit like the Pine Barons of New Jersey.

Figure of speech. I find it wild that the landscape on a different Continent looks identical to what is a few miles from where I live, tops.

Okay, dumb question time (again)......

The 262 looks to be in incredibly good shape, except for the engines. Is it plausible that the Germans destroyed the engines in expectation that the airplane would be captured? If so, I wonder why they didn't just destroy the entire aircraft?

Any other ideas?

Gary it's a little more shot up than that. Look closely at the Vertical Stabilizer.

True, but the engines still have the vast majority of the substantial damage, don't you think? Maybe it's just me.

Oh no, I do agree but I was just pointing out that it is a bit more than an airframe in good shape with torn up engines.

BTW: Gary, I just had the closest I can get to Texas barbecue up in my neck of the woods. It's quality!
