Kissimmee F-101A - Where'd it go?

Sat May 09, 2009 7:24 pm

There used to be a F-101A, S/N 54-1443, in pieces at Kissimmee in a museum of sorts, with a bunch of other dilapidated airframes. I heard somewhere that it had been sold and moved to somewhere up in the Northeast. Does anyone know where it ended up, and who owns it now :?:

From the ole' Col.'s email...
Someone was asking about the F-101 that was at Kissimmee and someone posted that it went to Quonset Air Museum - Well they never purchased it, I just got off the phone with my source and he told me they never purchase it and that it what he understands it was scrapped do to the fact it was very corroded.

That's what I was sent.

Noooooooooo !!!

That airplane sat in the weeds at Wolfe Airpark just Southeast of Houston for years - that salty air must have done a number on it!!!

Are we sure that this isn't the aircraft that is now at MAPS in Akron, OH? I know that they got some stuff out of Florida. I know some of it came from a few places.

Yes. The MAPS Voodoo is a F-101B, this airplane was an F-101A.

I think the QAM's involvement with this Voodoo preceded its appearance at Reilly's. I think they were responsible, maybe along with Dean Martin, for getting the plane out of Texas. Then it appeared in FLA, and since then I have no idea where it went.
