I'm back...

I had a most excellant vacation. I dropped the film off at the photo lab. That was fun. I was helping the lady to stuff and label all then envelopes! :)

James Knightly gave me a very good tip. It turns out the Science Museum was only 2-3 blocks from my hotel, so I went there on the first day. Thanks James.

I got out to Duxford and took many pictures. I saw the Grace Spitfire fly and later in the day an AH-64 Apache arrived (I have never seen one). Of course many of the British types I have never had the oppotunity to photograph as well so I have having a great time.

The tour of the Normany area just can't be described in only a few words. I will post those pics first. Of course the cruise I was on also had a large number of veterans on board. I had the oppotunity to speak to a number in person as well as listening in during a few open mike sessions. I'll never forget it.

Last Thursday Harm-Jan picked me up in Amsterdam and we traveled out to inspect the progress made on Cees' Halifax cockpit project. Cees has quite a large collection of instruments, panels and other fittings. It is most impressive. Later we went to the air force museum for a tour of the collection including the Do-24. We got a group shot of the first Canadian-Holland WIX meet, and it will be posted of course as soon as it is available. Many thanks to Harm-Jan and Cees for a most excellant day! :D

That is it for now. I am taking today to relax and try to get my internal clock back to EST. I'll let everyone know as the pictures are posted.

Regards,

Mike

Hopefully the majority will be up on Webshots before then. I was hoping to have the Normandy pics uptoday, but I have a wicked cold going right now and just can't get it done. Maybe by tomorrow.

I think I am missing something. What bet? Lots of stuff on WIX since I left and I am having fun catching up.

Hi Mike,
Glad you could get to the Science Museum (home of the Wright Flyer until 1948 incidentally) A great collection, darkly displayed.
Cheers
James
