Someone that has never been to Oshkosh. That is an odd list, as I would not put the Dayton AIrshow ahead of Chino or Oshkosh.

I guess it's just me but, when I hear or think "Airshow", I visualize piston engined warbirds.
OK...if you want to split hairs, "airshow" literally means "a show in the air".
If I wanted to see commercial and corporate.private jets, I'd go to the local airport. Never having been to Oshkosh, I'm not qualified to pass judgement on that "airshow" but from what I've heard (from some of youse troops) it's about 25,000 private a/c and 50 "warbirds". OK...maybe just a slight exaggeration but you get the idea.

That is a very unusual list indeed.

I'm blown away that the Abbotsford Airshow made the list at all.... and struck senseless that it made the #3 ranking.

Maybe it has to do with me being more interested in warbirds than military jets and transports.

One thing Abbotsford has done that is quite amazing is that it is usually the place of many unveilings.... American and Russian jets. For instance the SR-71, the F-117, the B-2, made their first appearances outside of the US. We also had the Antonov AN-415 (I think that's the number).

Okay, so I'll say this about the Abbotsford Airshow... "If you like lots of jets, and lots of jet sounds, it's a great airshow, but if you like the piston powered warbirds, it is certainly lacking"

An airshow has never been, and is not just for warbirds. Granted, that is the one area we all love, but they have always been a mix of General aviation, as well as restored warbirds and vintage aircraft, as well as modern civilian and military. If someone doesn't like crowds and such, or is just not a fan of Oshkosh, then I can understand that. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But I think even those who are not the biggest fan of Oshkosh would agree that putting it at #8 and Dayton at #1 is dumb.

Oshkosh has more warbirds than most stand alone airshows, more airshow performers than most stand alone airshows, more vintage aircraft than most stand alone airshows, more current military hardware than most stand alone airshows, more speakers, authors, vendors, and admittedly, more commercial stuff than most stand alone airshows. I guarantee there is something there that will satisfy you. Regarding warbirds, this years will be one of the best based on the initial aircraft that are coming. Let's just say the Navy, Luftwaffe, and RAF will be well represented!

Since WIX is a warbird site, that's all we care about, right??

DX has not only the best 'warbird' display over it's three days, period, but the opportunity to watch them takeoff and land and operate on and over that hallowed ground automatically cancels out half the top ten that were picked!

I would agree that while Oshkosh may rival any other show in terms of warbird numbers, just the fact that Duxford was THE place where history was made trumps it. I hope I can get across the Pond to see it myself someday.

Yeah, heh heh, of course I knew the poll was about AIRshows in general, but why in the Sam Freakin' Hill would I want to see 1 or 550,000 civilian of anything gathered in one spot ... unless, that is, I am at the airport flying TO Legends? :lol:
