Folks here are talking about the jets at the Snyder, Tx and it got me to thinking. I remember 2 jets sitting at the Brownwood Regional Airport. They were not out on the tarmack just out by the street. Maybe an F-4 and an F-104 but I really don't remember. I have to think the airforce gave them to Brownwood or something because they are just out in the open, no fence or anything. Anybody know anything? :?: Thanks

Looks like an F-4 and an unknown airframe up by the main hangars when you look at the airport on Google Earth.

Enjoy the Day! Mark

A wikiscan came up with an F-4 and an F-111. Though a general aviation field, it is occasionally used by the USArmy for Helo operational practice. Better check the barns in the area, B-17s, B-24s, P-40s, A-20s and L-5s used the field back in the day!!

All the hangers were pretty new, I didn't get the sense there was anything waiting there to be discovered. Thanks for the replys.

There was a B-25 found in Lake Brownwood when the water level went down. This was a good while back.

Just to confirm, the two jets are both former Sheppard TTC frames:

A past airport manager was a USAF fan and got the jets.
IOf you go into the terminal you'll see photos from the 50s, there was an Army camp there and some of the photos show C-124s unloading troops and vehicles.

IIRC, a few years ago...2003 or so, there was a T-6 based there.
