Things are progressing on the Six-


I got the Gearbox pump drives back together and now air blows thru the oil port on the air compressor mounting flange from the main oil pump galley.

The Roush engine will arrive early next week as well.

I'd like to thank you and Rich for taking the time to post the updates. The fact that you take the time out of your busy business & flying schedule to post updates here & take the time to answer our questions, speaks volumes about the type of person you are.

Most of us here are on the fringe of warbirds, going to airshows, building models or maybe volunteering at a museum is about as close as most of us will ever be able to get the planes we all love. Thanks for allowing us into the "inner circle" (not meant in a derogatory way) & sharing your passion with us.

It has been a busy week here. I ran BE today and after figuring out how tight I had to tighten the clamps on the Avimo fittings that connect the header tank to the heads so they wouldn't leak, everything was good.

We are making progress on the T-6G as well-

New name done by Dan Calderale-

Installed a NOS Wobble pump but found the shaft had some rust pitting under the graphite seal. I ordered a new one from Lance and this is how it looked on arrival and what I found in the wrapper-



Its cool to see new stuff come out of the package.

The new exhaust is installed along with more FWF parts-




The cowling is test fitted-

Looking good Rich, what is the symbol on the T-6 cowl(too fuzzy can't see) plus what is the tank on the RH side behind the console? Smoke?

I still find it amazing how much material was produced during the war years. Who would have thought in 1945 that there would be NOS parts available 60 years after the war was over, and for all of the stuff still around probably twice the amount has been indiscriminately scrapped.

I found a place that had 13,000 special bolts required for B-17 wheels. When I called them, they said they scrapped them a couple of years ago. They were worth about 15.00 to 40.00 ea !

I agree with Rich, it's always cool to open a package that has been sealed up for 40-60 years and take out a new part.
