Having been interested in the B-36 pretty much as long as I can remember I have decided to put what few details I have on the B-36 into a website. While geared towards Pima's retoration of 52-2827 it does contain some other material.

Cliff

very cool
it would be great if they had the $ to make it fly now that would be a project !

if you want a better template for a website that is super easy to use.

try Bandzoogle.com
its for rock band websites but you can use it for warbirds very easily

the templates are very easy to use
and you get your own domain

Very good! I worked on 2827 back in the 70's when she was being moved from GSW to Carswell. I'm very happy to see her coming back together, and being given the amount of care she deserves, but that we simply did not have available in Texas.

FWIW: http://b-36.net/ is pretty much the definitive B-36 site, with links to lots of other resources including an online forum where surviving B-36 crewmen share their memories. There are also a couple of superb CD photoessays that detail the early years of "Saving the Last Peacemaker." Highly recommended.

Something to note: The aircraft at NMUSAF and SASM were under guard at military bases. 2827 was on an unguarded civilian site for decades. It's important not to downplay the work done by the Ft Worth volunteers in the 80's and 90's who restored the interior of the aircraft. I've posted some before-and-after photos that show just how much was accomplished: http://www.itasca.net/~corrie/B36-2827/

Sadly, this work will now be hidden away.

yeah.. this thing will fly.., N O T !!!

Imagine how much $$ just to fire up a B-36.., good grief.., She would sit at an airshow for a year just to make enough money for gas to get airborne and turn around and land again!

Too bad.., I can not imagine what a sight it must have been to see her fly. I watch Strategic Air Command just for that purpose..,crank up the surround sound and WISH!!!!!

They had all six recips running back in the mid-70's. Had grand plans to turn it into a flying museum. But gas was cheap then. Get the whole story on Don Pyeatt's CD book, "Saving the Last Peacemaker."

Cliff,

I have a photo that my dad took back in 1972 of 2827 when he and I attended the last airshow at GSW airport. If you'd like I can send it to you for use on your website.
