Is that why George is so often called, "the father of our country"?

Ryan- That's one of the oldest jokes going! No need to get upset over it...

There is even a TREE in Red Bank NJ, (Near Monmouth, not the one on the Delaware), in which Washington is said to have "holed up" inside one night, the tree being hollow. (It is still there, what is left of it)

As to the slave ownership, it was, at that time considered acceptable, and appropriate. You must view things such as that with the understanding that times change, and people come to understand that something is wrong, however, you should never judge a person from another time by the values of your own time, as they were not applicable! What is not considered horrible, was then common practice, as common as driving a car is to us. This just means that we, as a country, have learned better. But it does not mean that he was wrong- when viewed from the perspective of his times
