Is that why George is so often called, "the father of our country"? :D

Not to cast any disparaging remarks about George, but the signs don't say he slept alone and them nights could get very cold. :hide:

Not funny. Washington was an honorable man, and besides that, many times his wife even came to be with him at the camp - Valley Forge for example.

Mod Post; OK, the jokes and points have been made. Anyone who wants to debate George Washington's history might like to do it somewhere else - I'd hope we all agree a constructive discussion of Wendover and their plans would be stupid to stymie for an argument about G Washington.

It probably wouldn't thrill Buckwheat, Alfalfa, Spanky nor Darla much either!

anyway... What can be done to secure a B-29 for this museum? And do you paint it up as Enola Gay or Bockscar? How would the NMUSAF and the Smithsonian feel about that?

Ryan- That's one of the oldest jokes going! No need to get upset over it...

There is even a TREE in Red Bank NJ, (Near Monmouth, not the one on the Delaware), in which Washington is said to have "holed up" inside one night, the tree being hollow. (It is still there, what is left of it)

Sorry about previous post- Just found this one...

As to the slave ownership, it was, at that time considered acceptable, and appropriate. You must view things such as that with the understanding that times change, and people come to understand that something is wrong, however, you should never judge a person from another time by the values of your own time, as they were not applicable! What is not considered horrible, was then common practice, as common as driving a car is to us. This just means that we, as a country, have learned better. But it does not mean that he was wrong- when viewed from the perspective of his times

Robbie- with apologies- OUT!-
