I have the answers.

Fred Turner is friends with a lot of the Navy pilots from World War II.

Enterprise Rent a Car CEO Andy Taylor has really stepped-up.

I would like to find more such as them.

I have a photo of John Lendo, I do not know how to put it on here, what a dummy I am.

and A. and T. Recovery is doing the recovery.

Helldivers in Lake Michigan, nope.

Welcome back Taras, long time, no hear!

Some questions:

1) Have you guys been asked by the Navy for any assistance, advising, etc. for the recovery of the Jaluit Devastator?

2) Have you guys done any salt-water recoveries before? If so, is there any difference in how you approach or accomplish the recovery vs. a fresh water recovery?

3) Any more Lake Michigan recoveries in the cards for the future?

Thanks for coming back to WIX, we would love to hear more of your input here!

ANy Helldivers ever wind up in the lake?

I don't think so..at least I've never heard of any. The SB2C came along late in the war, so I'm not sure if there were any war-weary airframes available for training before the program ended. Also, the Helldiver was such a handful for experienced pilots operating off fleet carriers, I doubt the Navy would want to have trainees flying them off the much smaller Lake Michigan flattops.

1. I think that TBD would be a very easy airplane for us to recover, all I will say for now.

2. Salt water airplanes tend to be very fragil. A lot of extra care is needed.

3. Yes, F6F-3 funded by take a guess. I will tell you the correct answer when I have approval.

I will try to work out a way to post recovery photos quickly on this next one.

A photo of John Lendo should be up very soon.

Thanks for the info, Taras, that's awesome!

The Lance Corporal thing is just a forum gimmick that assigns a rank based on the number of postings you have. As you post more, you go up in rank. It has absolutely nothing to do with real life.

Taras-

IMHO, it's not the quantity but that quality of posts that counts. And yours are always top-notch. Thanks for keeping us in the loop about the great work that your firm is doing!

Unfortunately another thread was started on the same subject with the news links you provided, Taras. Ooops.
The question of the correct ID has come up. Is this SBD Buno 2173?
