So the TSA agent walks into a bar......

No, seriously, the other day our airport manager was contacted by the TSA and said they would be at the airport on June 16th to talk with him about the upcoming MLB All Star Game that will take place in St. Louis on July 14th. Sure enough, they did show up today and had a look around. They also came with a long list of questions. Reading from the list of questions on his checklist and with a completely straight face, he asked the following question:

"Are you expecting any unexpected deliveries that day?"

:?

Oh, and just for fun, the FAA has sent a letter to the airport saying that they will be out in force that day (July 14th) and all pilots should expect to be challenged. Of course we will be flying the "FAA is on the field" flag that day. They really hate that flag but then they just don't understand our sense of humor. :snakeman:

Why don't you ask them if the'd like to play some baseball, or take them up for rides for P.R.

ARE YOU KIDDING!!??!! Watching two groups of overly officious, self inportant and self impressed with themselves government employees (almost screwed up and used 'servants') playing a game of baseball would upstage the All Star game to the point that old Bud would declare another 7 inning tie game before it started! That would be the all time biggest hoot to see!!!

The other idea about taking them for an airplane ride? Absolutely the last thing either the thugs and groping experts from TSA or the para-legals from OKIEDOKIE TOWN would want to do is actually get on an airplane you big silly!

By the way.......just how big is that FAA is on the field flag?? Got a picture?

A2C,
Now what would make you want to degrade and cheapen big time professional wrestling by bringing in the FAA?

Now that's funny Ztex. I'm afraid that if I show that image to my father, he will commission one from our local flag supplier right away. Ours is much more subtle. The Waco Flyin started at Creve Coeur today so I did not have time to photograph the flag but I'll do it on Friday. We are actually quite lucky here in St. Louis. The local FAA office is staffed by a group of very reasonable people. You have to hit their nest pretty hard before they send out the swarm.

Well it just so happens that yesterday the local FAA had to make a visit to our humble airport here in the middle of the farm fields. Unfortunately, a PA-31T Piper Cheyenne tried to harvest some corn off the south end of our runway. Fortunately, the pilot and passenger walked away unharmed but as durable as the PT-6 engine is, it's not much good at eating ears of corn. Anyway, our Black Lace Up Shoe flag was hoisted, inverted of course, to let everyone know that The Men In Black (shoes) were on the field. They seem to have a pretty good sense of humor about the flag. Lucky for us. :D

Here are some deep thoughts FROM the TSA, their own website:

Our History
How We Began

We were created in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, to strengthen the security of the nation's transportation systems. The Aviation and Transportation Security Act, passed by the 107th Congress on November 19, 2001, established our agency and gave it three major mandates:

responsibility for security for all modes of transportation;
recruit, assess, hire, train, and deploy Security Officers for 450 commercial airports from Guam to Alaska in 12 months; and,
provide 100 percent screening of all checked luggage for explosives by December 31, 2002.
In the largest civilian undertaking in the history of the U.S. government, we met these Congressional deadlines. In March 2003, we were moved from the Department of Transportation to the Department of Homeland Security that was created on November 25, 2002 by the Homeland Security Act of 2002, unifying the nation's response to threats to the homeland.

I did a search on TSA on this website. Most of the criticism seems to have started around November of 2008.

How odd.
