Old Sar,
when you are shooting, are you shooting for grouping size or shot placment on the target ?
I have shot 400 yrds with open sights, but never a group that small

Matt,
We're shooting for the size of the shot group. Placement on the target is irrelevant.
Works like this:
Each team (maximum of six shooters) fires, then the smallest three shot groups are chosen. The average size of the groups makes the team score.
Three sighting rounds, then ten shots in ten minutes for record. Sights are of the shooter's choice - scopes or diopter (open) sights, as is the choice of weapon and caliber.
Whichever team gets the best two out of three in the series is declared the winner, and the low team has to send the winner a token gift. Last year, we sent a silver dollar to each of the winning Swedish team shooters, and when we won, the Swedes sent each of us a set of Swedish coinage.
It's nothing serious (if it was, I'd be going for the X-ring!), just a bit of fun....

On my target I was testing my UZI. I had it teflon coated and it was the first trip to the range after having it done, it was also the first trip where it did not jam, the teflon really worked. I sighted it in and just started firing away at the target. After I went thru a box of ammo with no problems, I figured it was fixed. I just kept shooting at the same hole for the whole 100 rnds.

Years ago, when I was in law enforcement, we had our 870 Remington teflon coated, due to the only place we could have a vertical mount on those @$!#$!# Ford patrol cars - right in front of the AC duct. No rust problems, even where the finish wore off, and no lube problems, either.

The teflon did wonders for that UZI. I have had the same company do some other coatings for me as well.
They did the powder, ceramic and stock painting on my AR-7/M1 carbine,
oh and one more of my short friend and the M-1 Garand, I had to do a little photoshopping since this is a family website...

Not to be picky, but shouldn't the heart be on the other side? (Please.)

Matt-
What kind of ammo works best in your AR-7's? My brothers old Charter Arms AR-7 jammed almost every time I fired it. I bought the Henry produced version recently, but haven't fired it yet.

I put a slight ramp on both of my AR-7s barrels and shoot only jacketed/copper plated bullets, also check the angles on the mag lips. The lips are very weak and can be bent easily. If you have one mag that works great, measure the angle of the lips and compare to any other mags that are giving you trouble.

Thanks for the info, Matt! Is there any chance you could post a pic of your modified feed ramp? If I mod mine, I don't want to take off too much material.

it is not much, just enough to form a funnel to help channel the round into the chamber. I will try and get a pic for you tomorrow.

Oops! Tried to delete the video, but no "Delete". Kind of a "semi" humorous commercial.... Sorry for the roundabout way to it!
