I picked up two of these yesterday. Not aviation related but used extensively throughout the second world war and beyond.
Im hoping to get one running on a test stand. Anyone who has any info on getting these to run would be greatly appreciated.

Very interesting.... Post more pics and info! All V-12's are cool and that looks like a monster!

They are a monster. 2200ci ,650hp weighing 4300lbs. Overhead cam etc. My poor truck nearly died carrying one of them (and I thought I could get both home in the one trip). Ill get the other one next week.
They are so overengineered. They must have been virtually indestructable.

Hi Bootlegger; Check your PMs. I sent you the contact info of a friend who restores and overhauls vintage marine engines for decades and probably has all the manuals and advice that will help you. he has had a bunch of Hall Scotts, and possibly still has spares etc. Very helpful with sharing info...

Your Hall-Scotts wouldn't happen to be out of a RAAF crash boat by any chance would they? I mean one of the real crash boats, not those shark cat thingies they bought in the late 80s to replace the real crash boats. While I was at 2 OCU at Willytown I had a mate who was invlolved in overhauling these monsters as they were replaced from the Newcastle crash boat.
During one of my deployments to Townsville I spent a very pleasant weekend out on one of the real boats fishing. When the first shark cat turned up at Richmond to be airlifted to Willytown the general consensus was "What is that thing and what's it supposed to do?"

Hi Ross. Sorry to take so long to get back to you. I havent been on this forum for a while.
I dont know the exact history of these engines but they are more than likely out of crash boats. They were also used in Fairmiles.
Like I said I would like to get one of them running. The other I will use for spares. The block is corroded. Give me a call if you like Dave 0413766501
