I was forced to leave without even getting a price on the old girl, and I don't know if the seller found a buyer that day or not. It was EXTREMELY cool but a little too large for us to latch on to. I've seen a couple more of the same style tug on the web, and there was also an open-cab version of the tractor. I've got a photo of a "convertible" towing a B-36 at the Convair San Diego modification facility. I'd really like to know how many of these behemoths were built and when they were constructed.

At Christmas time we went to Nebraska to visit family. I re-discovered the big Coleman I shared photos of on page three. I may still have a chance to own it if only my redhead sees the practicality of using it to tow our Mooney the twenty feet in and out of our hangar.

This has turned into an interesting topic. I have to admit, I've got a thing for GSE stuff. I've always wanted to find one of those vintage AirStair trucks, you know the ones that had passenger loading stairs mounted in the bed of a 1960s vintage step side p/u truck. Now that really would be cool.

Love Taigh's shot of the Clarktors playing "Tug Polo" or what ever they are doing. Django's shot of the restored NTX makes me want to go out and find one. It reminds me of an Allard or an Arnolt Bristol race car! I want a NTX!

Here's a shot of the Clarkat I gave Eric D. I'll try to find some photos that show what a heep of junk it was when I gave it to him. This is what it looks like now.

Can you tell what year this Clarkat tug is? I just had a friend give me his restored tug that looks exactly like that one. Not being a tug authority, I have no idea of it's vintage.

I forget what vintage the Clarkat is but a great way to get information on the tug you have just acquired is to log onto and join Yahoo's Clark tug group. There's a fellow there who can provide you with the original ownership history of your tug if you want it The group is very helpful when it comes time to find parts or work on your tug. Clark ct-40 ,Great tug, It is saying restore me. I own a ct-30 that is used at the wotn and caf shows in mpls.

The tractor came from Texas. Would it be safe to assume that this would be Barksdale Air Force Base? Any thoughts?

Reguarding your'e 1952 ct-40, It had only one seat to begin with. check out yahoo groups clark tug and it will have some pdf's for parts and info. join the group and give joe the mod and ser # and he will tell you where it started. I still have ny ct-30 which is for sale if anyone is interested.

There are quite a few B Bases that have served SAC over the years. Being from TX, could be Bergstrom or Biggs, west coast Beale and up east Biggs not as good a chance.

Seeing that Clark Equipment placard is cool. They used to be one of the biggest employers in town. The Clark plant burned down in the '70s or '80s..I'm not sure if it was still in operation at the time or not.
