Doolittle B-25 in russia??

Sun May 08, 2005 3:14 pm

Does anyone know of anybody looking for the Doolittle Raider that did make it to russia??? I had read somewhere that when the fall of the KGB, they found papers still stating its existance in the late 50's??? I can only imagine how hard that would be to find it, espically with all the Lend Lease B25's that went over. What a find that would be!!!

plenty of b-25's up their in russia that crash landed after diverting their with battle damage, low fuel etc, while bombing the japanese held kurile islands. our boys mostly sortied from kiska & attu islands. being the fact that the region their is the anus of the world weather wise those crashes are probably in great shape!! regards, tom

Tandem Hawker hunter

Sun May 15, 2005 10:13 am

Hello,

Somewhere, either on the web or in a magazine I have read .

An ex-RAF flyer has asked if anyone can recall a two seat Hawker Hunter that was Tandem ? he said he flew in it.

I seem to recall in days gone by that I have seen a photo of a tandem Hunter, but cannot remember where.

Can anyone shed some light on this aircraft and perhaps provide details ?

Thanks

Alex

I wonder if any B-26s survive in any remote climates that could be recovered and restored. Were B-26s ever made available for lend lease?

No. But somewhere in my files I have an interesting article written by a former Marauder pilot and researcher that asks about the Russian question...as there were some rumours that Russia got ahold of some Marauders.

think just the 1 that was located in china, but has it been positively i.d.'d as such :?: :?: as to the 1 that diverted to russia, that's a real mystery
