Most Anticipated Restoration To Fly

Hi--

*Jerry Yagen's Mosquito (the only extant Canadian-built fighter variant)
*C&P Aviation's EF-82E
*MAAM's P-61B
*TFC's Beaufighter
*a Tempest...any Tempest...amazing that none has yet flown

Couple others, the aforementioned Ki61 Hien and the "Dora" FW190.

Re Tempests...anybody ever explore the idea of mating the airframe with an R3350, in a Skyfury-type installation? Wouldn't even have one too few prop blades (OK, so it turns backwards...) Since it works so well on the Fury, surely it wouldn't be that different on a Tempest?

Rob? This was one of David T's birds correct?

Not Rob, but yes this was Tallichet's, acquired from India in the 1970's, flown via Duxford to the US. The airplane was fairly complete, other than replace engines I don't think Tallichet did anything to it restoration wise after he bought it.

Yeah it looks rough as it sits.. when I finally got there to the museums with more than 15 min before closing like the 2 times before. I actually paid and went in and mannaged to spend the afternoon. When I had seen the B-24, was not what I expected. you can still see the indian AF markings on the outer wing sections. But she does look straight as an arrow!!!

Restoration list!!!

The P-61........that will be awsome.
Cant remember the site, but a new museum out west, they had a Corsair that was pretty origional..........that would be #2.
#3 Chapter XI B-25 "again".
#4 Houstons Airmuseum Privateer.
#5 The rumor of a F-106 being restored to fly in TX.

YUP!

The B-24 in Polk City is the former Tallichet airplane.
It needs to be flown! Dammit!
That is a real low time airplane, I was told it had some 450 hours in the log when Dave had it on tour. It was in Bedford, MA back when Kermit came up in a Baron to look at it. I had taken a few pics of it with my old 66 bug in front of the nose while it sat there.

What else did he buy in that deal? B-24/B26/?...

I dont know about restorations but up here we are anxiously awaiting the first flight of Grumman C-1A No. 136788 (N6788).
Hopefully he will get it off the ground this year.

1) Whoever gets a P-61 done first-whether it be MAAM or Paul Allen

2) B-29 Doc

3) The former CAF P-82B (I just like the Merlin P-82Bs much better than the Allison E's and G's)

4) Whoever can get a full stock military restored B-23 done first.

5) With fingers crossed,... the 1949-colors race modified #45 P-51D racer, minus belly scoop, of Anson Johnson, N13Y.

Alternates, in case any of the above go permanently static only:
Paul Allen's B-17E or any A-20 or Ki-61.

My picks -

The Wakefield Avro Anson Mk 1, that would be great to see

The Old Stick and Rudder Company's Hawker Hind - it is beautiful even when just half restored

Glynn Powell's Mosquito - I say his because by that time there will be several others flying from his moulds

and his will be staying in NZ

The "Blenheim For Blenheim" Blenheim :shock:

I'm keen to see a few foreign projects up in the air too, especially the Beaufighters, Beauforts and Blenheims being restored in the UK and Aussie. Also the Aussie Lincoln

And most anticpated statics I want to see complete and on display - the Subritzky's Vickers Vincent and the RNZAF Museum's Vildebeest, Oxford and P40E

I'd recommend you do some volunteer work on it. I never knew work could be so much fun!! (Ok, that sounded dorky, but until I started on Doc, I didn't really like tools!)

Over here in the UK several aircraft have recently gone onto the registry
two of which are :

Focke-Wulf 190 Dora9!! to flying status, with Junkers Jumo 213.This is none other than Black 8 Flown by Werner Zech. Details of this aircraft are available in the excellent `Greenhearts, first in combat with the Dora9` publication.
and also a JU 87 Stuka!! to flying status

I can`t wait for these two!!
