We are starting to work on the 2010 show, and wanted to get everyone's input on what next years theme should be?

Okay, I'll go first.

Theme:

Fighter Meet

As many fighter aircraft as possible. No bombers, no transports, no helicopters, no trainers, no display teams....nothing but fighters, fighters and more fighters.

All eras, WWI, WWII, Korea, Cold War, modern day.

If it was in a dogfight, lets see it.

Bring on the fighters

Cheers,

Jeff

Early model Mustangs only - no bubbles allowed (Malcolm Hoods O.K.) ! Only A/B/C models and A-36 if the two in airworthy restoration get done in time (probably not).

NO D MODELS!!!!!!!!!! :)

Whatever the theme, please move the date to sometime after AirVenture as it had been in the past - I had been able to attend the last several TOMs with the post-AirVenture date, but this year was a no-go as it's very difficult to get away while preparing for the EAA convention the weeks and weekends prior, especially when you are an EAA employee!

Korea!

P-51s
F4Us
ADs
F-86s
Mig 15s
B-29 (?)
A-26s

I'm not sure if anyone has really done the theme before but I think it could be great. Seems like something for everyone.

Please return the show to August if you can.

Tim

It could be:

2010 Thunder Over Michigan: F-4 Demo

And I'd be there! :D

The fighter theme could be pretty cool. You could get some pretty cool photos with some of them lined up... figure one from each war in a row. Would really be cool with the "photo lift" that was used (very cool idea).

... Me-262??? If the Collings guys are going to bring their toys, why not all of them? :D

The NAVY theme would be pretty cool as well, but I know some guys mentioned that 2011 would be a better year for that.

As a side note, not complaining at all, but is it possible to put more of the aircraft close the photopit and let them take off from that direction?

Also, the scaffolding in the photo pit was a great idea! Would it be possible to have a little more?

There is no official theme yet, but I am already excited for TOM 2010!

Whatever it is I'm going to try to be there since I've missed the last two year (after attending the previous 4 or 5). Here's a couple I'd like to see:

- Grumman Iron works (Cats, Ducks and Turkeys)
- D-day theme w/ focus on C-47 (it's the 75th anniv). Try to get a line up of 6+ d-day painted C-47s and support it with Mustangs, P-47s, and anything else that has d-day stripes.

Also would love Korea as some one else stated, maybe an emphasis on the A-26.

I second the Korean War idea, mostly because it's been largely ignored by the airshow world and it's time the veterans from this war get some sort of tribute. Plus, 2010 will mark the 60th anniversary of the start of the Korean War. If there aren't enough Korean War types to make the show worth it, you could expand the theme to be a general post-WWII theme and try to incorporate some of the aircraft that flew in the Cleveland Air Races and the Berlin Airlift.

How about a WWII Navy theme? I think it's been a while since that's been done on any reasonable scale.

You could have a Helldiver, SBD's, Wildcats, Bearcats, Corsairs, Tigercats, Avengers, Hellcat, PBY's, PBJ, SNJ's, N3N's, and even tow the PB4Y-2 out onto the ramp.. Your very own "Yankee Lady" is also the only currently flying PB-1 too.

You could always supplement this lot with some post-war naval aircraft like the S-2, A-4, T-2 etc.

Just a thought... but you could get a lot going with this!

Cheers,
Richard

I agree that Korean War would be a GOOD theme for 2010. I would add to the list above:
C-47, C-54, T-6 Texan, Bell 47/H-13, S-55/H-19??, Yak fighter variants, T-33s (Great F-80 stand-in), C-119??

* General Post-WWII is a good theme.

* Fighter aircraft from all eras would be good.

* Jet Warbird theme

For after next year, U.S. Naval Aviation is perfect for 2011.

Also agree that August dates are best.

?? by types I am not sure have flying examples available.

75th Anniversary for the B-17 and you could have more of them this year with Texas Raiders and Aluminum Overcast back in the air.
