Thunder over Michigan 2010

Any F9F Pathers that might be able to return to the sky? I thought there was one that was in "Flyable Condition" in TX somewhere. Man, I'd love to see a panther fly again.

The Cavanaugh Flight Museum in Texas supposedly has a Panther that could be returned to flying status:

Not sure how long it would take or the cost involved, but it sure would be nice if this could be a project to put back in the air for air shows in 2011 for the 100th Anniversary of Naval Aviation and the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War.

I would love to see it (Imagine a Panther/Bearcat/Tigercat/Hellcat formation, too)!

Ever since I saw this thread this morning, I've been thinking about what I'd suggest and I can't think of anything better than the first reply by Jeff Hunt ..... Fighter Meet! I vote for his proposal.

U.S, Navy theme, and yes, bring John Mohr with his Stearman as one of the airshow acts.

This has nothing to do with the theme, and other than the heritage flight, not much to do with warbirds, but i'd like to see a different ACC demo there. Viper East has been there for 3 straight years( not knocking them, dog flies an awesome demo). i would like to see P-38/A-10 Heritage. They look so similiar.

I'd love to see a A-10 and P-47 fly together in a heritage flight!

I'd love to see some P-38s this coming year.

The airshow is called Thunder Over Michigan. So feature the history of aviation in Michigan.

Early biplane days
Inter war trainers
WW2 Warbrids ( Navy feature for Lake Michigan / B-24 feature for Ford )
This should be a shameless plug for the YAM rebuild
Post war jet era ? ( include a DC-6 / Electra / DC-8 that have figured large in KYIPs history ( Zantop reunion ? )
Show Time ( Blue Angels / Jet truck )

In summary a mix that will appeal to every TOM, Dick and Sally

Oh and Lots of B-17s

I was thinking on the way in to work this morning, and I only came up with this...

I'm not sure if this is the right idea for you guys, but here goes.

The biggest place for type gatherings and formation displays is Oshkosh. You always see large groups of specific types doing formation work that you dont get to see much in other areas. The T-28 stuff this year looked amazing in the pictures I looked at, and it would be neat to see on a large scale. L-birds to fighter guys do get to practice formation stuff alot, some of them doing shows, and others just for fun. It would be neat to see them get to show off their stuff at a regular airshow, and I would love to see it. I miss the T-6 formations at Geneseo with 20+ airplanes at sunset with smoke and lights.

You could tie in a few formation acts to round out the airshow, the yak guys were great at Sun-n-Fun in the afternoon and night shows, are the Lima Lima guys still at it? You could even bring in the Horsemen! And then tie in a good Heritage flight too.
