This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

The best view that I ever had of a Blue Angels performance was in Seattle. They often perform during SeaFair when the hydroplane races are held on Lake Washington and the Blues perform over the lake.
My mom, now retired, had an office on the 61st floor of the Columbia Center - supposedly the tallest building on the West coast. There was an outside observation deck on the 64th floor (if I remember correctly.) We watched the Blue Angels from there - looking DOWN on their airshow routine over the lake.

Today's my birthday and yesterday my good friend Eddie Andreini took me up in his Super Stearman and we did a bunch of aerobatics!
It was the best present ever!

Evan,
Happy Birthday!
I've never seen a fully enclosed cockpit / canopy on a Stearman before. It kinda looks like the canopy off of a Varga Kachina...

They were made for Canadian Stearmans, down toward the middle of this page is an explanation. Whether or not the canopy on Andreini's is an original or built up one like the Canadian versions I do not know. Perhaps Evan can ask his friend Eddie to get the answer.
Either way I like the canopy as it really makes it look nice.

Evan left on a camping trip today so I'll write for him .....
The canopy is from a Varga Kachina. You can hear Eddie talking about it and some of the other mods he's done to the plane here
http://evanflys.com/audio_clips it's about 1/2 way down the page

Unfortunately, this past Saturday, I witnessed a Piper and a tour helicopter not having a good time along the Hudson!

The Guppy is now at EFD. They're having some kind of conference at JSC and the Guppy is on show.
Just saw the O G 727 take off out of EFD. They are doing all of NASA's O G flight work under contract now.

I was in the parking lot at Walmart just before dark yesterday and looked up to see a Cobra helicopter gunship. He was fairly low, flying lazy circles and such. I'm located on the flightpath between Ft. Campbell and the Knoxville airport so choppers are a common site. However, they are always on a straight line path and not seemingly out for a test drive.
That was cool enough but as I was looking at the Cobra I noticed a C-17 being refueled by a KC-135! That's twice this summer I've seen this with no camera. The tanker I'm sure is from the local ANG.
