Hi Peter,

thanks for posting. It's great to see information on that Lanc being available online. She's a beauty. Have they ever considered getting her ground running? What kind of shape is she in?

Sure wish there was a Lancaster on this coast though.

Cheers,

David

Thanks for posting. Glad to see another Lanc being restored here in Canada.

Davey,
SHe is in pretty good condition overall. Still has all 4 engines and 90% of the interior. Apparently the lanc was rebuilt and then retired so when she flew in she was practically new again. The short term goal is to get her inside a building with work gettting underway to restore her to ground running taxiable condition.

Is the plan to restore her as a WWII bomber, or in her SAR configuration/markings? Seems like at least one Canadian Lanc should be preserved to represent the type's postwar service. Either way, it's great to see another Lanc coming out of the cold!

Hello Steve.
I think ww2 config is a dirty word for this project. No she is going to be kept in strict post war colors and modification fit. Will look fantastic! Watch for updated recent pics coming to the website.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

There is sufficient representation of the War era Lancasters among the few that are left in Canada. The role they served as SAR machines should not be "swept under the rug". Although not quite as harrowing as the night time raids over Germany they do deserve merit and recognition. Besides, I think she looks cool in the post War colors. :P

**Picks Jaw up from the floor** I hope that means that a World War Two configuration is a dirty word, is because of the possibility of the difficulty in finding parts to configure the aircraft in the era.
From the website I read her crew of young men from 428 Squadron flew six sorties, “because they had a job to do” for Freedom, Liberation and Victory In Europe."
Will say however that in the interest of mission capability, that it would be cool to see this example in the last configuration flown in, as there are WWII configurations out there. 8)
I am done now.

Yes I should have chosen a better word. She is a combat veteran but from what I have been told she will remain in her last operational state and that is of a post war MKX AR

I have lost track. How many Lancs are currently under some form of restoration now in Canada?

What happened to the Lanc that was pulled out of a lake somewhere in Europe, I believe it was back in the late 70s early 80s
