Thu Aug 13, 2009 10:30 am

Just to let you all know that there are a few "little" air shows left in the country - Wendover is one of them!

September 26th is the date and here is the line up as of this morning:
B-25 Pacific Princess - call fellow wixer JC at Warhawks museum for a limited sponsorship ride!
Trojan Phylers - T-28 team acro
Dave Erickson - Chipmunk acro
Rocky Mtn CAF - TBM display
Utah CAF - N3N display
T-6II - static
Utah Military Vehicle Club - Armor demo and display
THREE T-33s - fly by and formation demo
MIG-15 - fly-by
F-86L - Static display
F-16 Viper West - demo
F4U-5 - static
P-51 Mustang - static
KC-135 - static and walk through

all this plus free base tours, good food and a car show! Where else can you see the hangar the Enola Gay called home and eat a snowcone all at the same time! Plus, there are 5 great hotel/casinos within minutes of the airport!

Oh yes, you can fly-in for the show just check the NOTAMS - warbirds get a fuel discount!

hey Tom P., i clicked on your link http://www.wendoverairbase.com/home [neat site] then i looked at http://wikimapia.org/ and zoomed in on wendover and saw some interesting stuff there, and was wondering. have you been to the V-1 rocket site, final assemably building for A bomb, and the loading pits for A bombs and pumpkin dummy bombs? and, can the public go to these places? thanks

yes, yes and yes!

until a few years ago when they cleaned out the pits at Tinian Wendover was the only place to see a real A-bomb pit. the JB-2 (V-1) site is pretty cool to - the original launch building and ramp all are there. Plus, we have a full scale "Little Boy" signed by many of the 509th in the museum.

Now if I could just find a B-29. . . . :D

hey tom it just dawned on me, when they get FiFi flying maybe you can get them to stop by there [maybe on there way to some where else] for a big photo shoot, and some good P.R. for your museum. i mean they are going to fly it some where.

Didn't know the CAF had another N3N. Cool plane is it going to be at Airsho?

Obergrafeter - my bad - N2S - not a 3N

The one I am excited about is the corsair!

Tex-Fan - I'll dig out my old photos - FIFI and the then "Diamond Lil" did visit in 2001. They came for the 509th 56th reunion in Wendover - now that was a cool event!
