The crappy weather early in the day kept many of the expected, but a fair number of aircraft still showed up. There was a reasonable amount of flying when the weather cleared, one of the Mohawks flew several times and we were treated to a few formation flights, 2 T-6s with a BT-13, and Paul Ehlen's freshly restored Mustang with Walt Frickie's T-28C.

Thanks for posting the pictures. The Mustang must have flown just recently?

Nice pictures Dan!

The Harvard 4 has a T-6F clear rear canopy.

I must admit sometimes it's hard to say wether it's an Harvard/Texan/SNJ, let alone the Mk.. The Harvard IV distinguishing features are the lack of landing gear doors (like all harvards), the prop spinner, a rectangular luggage door and bay, a smaller ADF fairing (not the "football" one), frameless canopies and the turtle deck with an extra frame. We're rebuilding our Harvard IV following this standard config, but I see many ppl applying modifications and/or strange/fantasy paintjobs, which is a real shame :(

Cheers

Alex

WOOOOHOOOO, thanks for posting the pics of the N3N............dont see many with the speed ring. It only increases the speed by 3 mph and reduces the visibility even more.

Harvards have landing gear doors my friend! The reason you never see them fitted is because that way, you save on rigging them.

Our Harvard 4 has the doors.

As far as I can see in any of the Harvard mantainance and part number manuals I have here there's no mentioning of landing gear doors. Even in the old pictures u cant see a single Harvard with those doors installed. I once was told it was a directive from CAF to operate better from muddy and snowy fields. So yes, your Harvard has doors, but they're not an original issue as far as I can see. It would be useful and interesting to know the history of your machine :)

same thing goes for the turtle deck, the Harvard IV had a peculiar one with different framing and I think even a little bit longer.

I assume that the P-51 Little Horse was reconstructed from the wreckage of Death Rattler according to the Registry, it looks nice.

Yes, Little Horse was rebuilt from the remains of Death Rattler, though I'm not sure how much was left to start with.

Thanks for the pics dj51, and a double-thanks for the captions on them!
The N3N speedring may be a negligible improvement, and a hassle for
maintenance, but it really does pretty-up her looks! Thanks to the owner
Don Larson for the extra effort!
