There's an article on the DND website about Michael Potter's new museum facility.

"The retired founder of Cognos, who owns and flies several Royal Canadian Air Force vintage aircraft (as well as other civilian aircraft), has announced he will build a $3-million, 2,230-square metre hangar at the Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport to house his collection, the largest collection in Canada of privately owned, flyable, vintage aircraft. "

The President of the Project North Star Association of Canada (PNS for short) has been lending a hand to help spec out are the tools and equipment needed to carry out maintenance on his fleet. They may also be looking at restoration capabilities, but I would need to confirm that.

I am certainly looking forward to it all.

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

So is Air Canada...

I think the Spitfire, Mustang and Kittyhawk might tip the scales a bit.

Yes, those three are worth alot, but a Beaver on floats with the wheels and of the quality ours are are worth a great big lot too.

But yes, he has the biggest private fighter collection in the country, which reminds me that I should drop by Gatineau to have a looksie!

The P-51 is Oklahoma Miss. Bob Baker used to have in out in Alva, but after he got Sweet and Lovely up flying, its been for sale. Beautiful plane though, it won some awards up at OshKosh in 2001 i believe.

This is great news for the Canadian warbird movement. It has been a long time since we have had these types of aircraft operating in Canada.

Mr. Potter is a class act, and to see him honor veterans and educate our youth with this project emphasizes that fact even more.

The future for warbirds looks bright and I'm glad I am able to witness it.

Well done!

I remember seeing that P-40 at Geneseo in the early 90s. I hope it will be back.
