Ok - the demilled F-14/F-15 question got me thinking - did the A-7 ever serve with other countries than the US? If so what would the chances of getting one and bringing it back to life be? Given you have a pile of green to fund such an endeavor.

Portugal & Greece both had/have the A-7, they may still be in service with them.

I checked the web and see on the Hellenic Air Force site that they are flying both the A-7 AND the F-4!! They claim the Hellenic Phantoms are the most advanced in the world.

Anyone interested in T-37s? The Hellenic airforce is getting rid of thiers in favor of the T-6 Texan II.

Anyone here know how the A-7 flys??

on barnstormers a few years back the Belgum(?) mil or govt was selling operational f-4's and a-7's as they were getting them out of their inventory.. pay the money show you can fly it and take it away.. i thought about it for about a second

zee french were still flying the vought crusader up to 2 years ago.

In the late 80s there was a Civvie A-7 here at an Air Guard open house. It had a white with red markings paint job. I dont The weekend was socked in(kind of like today ) so all aircraft had fuel to burn on mondays departure. I delivered mail in the old base housing at the time and this A-7 was down in the dirt and having a ball. I guy I know on a route near by actually dove for the groung as he thought the A/C was going to crash! Watched an F-4 launch and he lost his starboard afterburner as he cleared the end of the runway! that was interesting to watch.

I kind of like the looks of those Greek T-2 Buckeye's myself. The two-seat A-7 would be the bee's knees.

So what would be the legalities (restrictions) if someone seriously wanted to import all of those T-37's or a couple of A-7's back into the States for resale into the civilian market? I'm not too savvy on the jet market and the operation of material that would otherwise have been demilitarized by the US military.

I wouldn't think the T-37s would raise much concern but the A-7, that might get a little more scrutiny.

I agree with Rob - how would it be to hop in the WSO seat of an A-7!!?? I'd surely ante up for that ride!

I remember seeing 2 A-7 in Alaska in 1997, at Elmendorf AFB. I know they weren’t USN or USAF but they were painted in Navy type colors just without marking Or I can’t remember any markings, I was just excited to see two A-7s taxing by me, about 30 yards or so.

I came across some info. that the Royal Thai Naval Air Division acquired 18 + 2 for spares in the late '90's & as the U.S appears to have stopped using them in the mid '90's it looks like you might have seen 2 on there way to Thailand.

That sounds like it could be them, Somone in the squadron found out some info on them (Ex A-7 Tech) and that rings a bell.

That is one of two times I wish I'd have a camera on me. The other was watching a A-3 do touch and goes at NAS Lemoore in 96. I still want to cry over that

The French Navy finally retired their fabulous F8E Crusader's over 5 years ago now, back in December 1999....
