Gee, I never thought about using wing flaps to make an airplane go faster? I must've slept thru that part of aerodynamics.

I don't see why you couldn't do that with something in the experimental category.

Where did any conversation about gap seals come in?
Gap seals and fixed center flaps are different subjects.
Go back to your wing jigs.

IFthere is a standard category T-6G out there with a fixed center flap, and no FAA field approval for this, then there is an IA that is not doing his job, and an unairworthy airplane with no insurance out there.

There are IA's out there that will sign off just about anything, as long as the owner hands over a stack of Andy Jacksons ($20's) with no idea what is airworthy.

And according to FAR 91:

§ 91.403 General.
(a) The owner or operator of an aircraft is primarily responsible for maintaining that aircraft in an airworthy condition, including compliance with part 39 of this chapter.

I think some have forgotten the original question! Stoney asked if anyone had a copy of the T.O., not the legality or advisability of doing so.

I don't have a copy, but the T.O. is 1T-6G-204 "On airplanes modified by T.O. 1T-6G-204. The wing flap center section is inoperative" Page 30 of the maintenance manual. The TCDS, obviously trumps this for a standard catergory aircraft.

We do have the center flaps bolted up on both our T-6's because it improves the rudder authority during landing rollout. That and the steerable tailwheel are a good combination to counter a ground loop IMHO.
