Straighslot screws holding the little fairings on, and the edges are rough, as if they're made of soft aluminum. So it's something British, or from some other country on "that side" of the planet. My guess is British though. At first I thought it might be one of those on top of the wing slipper tanks, but I don't think that's right.

Perhaps it's the same waterslide, but from a different angle, showing the bubble jet nozels. But I'm with Gary, it's most likely a British waterslide.

How many days of the year would a waterslide even be useable in England... hmm...

More seriously though, I'm having a hard time with this one. It kind of looks like some kind of speed brake, and seems post-WWII, but the green (is it green?) doesn't really scream out post-WWII, it belches more of WWII tune. If it's silver, I'd have to pin it on a post-WWII early fighter jet. But it's not a Vampire, not a Meteor....

Curious to see what it is.

An Airplane, made of mostly Aluminum! As opposed to the dufus on the Military Channel-Great Planes, looking at a OD B-17 and saying most of these were shiny, um, chrome. Fortunately, the museum director informed him that they were, in fact, made of aluminum and the silver ones were polished with no paint!! Where do they get these guys!?

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade(s), but after looking at images of Yak 3's and 9's I really can't see the mystery plane being one.

That being said, I can't come up with a guess half as good as that.

Well, there y'go. I didn't think it would last this long!

No one's got even the right nationality yet one person's got the right area on the wrong type and wrong nationality, but the area is indeed similar, if odd / wrong on our subject aircraft.

Fw 190. Maybe a Fw 190 trainer? At any rate, the fuselage guns have been deleted and the troughs faired over.

edit: from Preserved Axis Aircraft:

Fw 190A-8/R6 733682 England PV IV./KG200 IWM, London. This aircraft was the top component in a Mistel S-3B (Ju 88H-1)

so that would make the faired over guns correct, I assume. Given that this is the aircraft in question....

P.S. and I had it figured from the first (small) image, if that gets me any extra degrees of warmth....

Greg v gets the warm feeling!

Extra warmth for the small pic id (we believe you...) and the re-faired guns, with the front troughs 'flipped'.

However I'm suspicious that this flipped part isn't correct, as it seems a bit much for a minor item on a Mistel.

Anyone know better, either way?
