Good evening sports fans,

Last Friday in NY, dad and I flew with Mark Murphy in Mark and his dad, Dave, in their T-6's. I flew Mark's SNJ-5C, recently rebuilt by Midwest Texans, and Mark flew his Dad's T-6 because Dave wasn't available. My father climbed in back with me, and Mark's buddy Scott strapped in, and we went up for some fall flying! I handed my father the camera for a change, it was my turn to drive! He took all of the photo's in this post except for the first one.

I led the formation around high above the foothills of the mountains and lake Sacaganda. We practiced breaks and rejoins, and I focused on leading, which I had only done once a few years back. Mark peeled off to drop Scott off and pick up his wife Diane, so we could fly to lunch. While dad and I loitered, we tossed around the SNJ in some acro, and then I formed up on Mark and Diane and we flew to Mohawk Valley, a small 1800 foot grass strip.

We ended up flying for about 2 hours. And there was much rejoicing.

Here is the SNJ-5C. I like this shot because it almost looks like a model!

I got a little too excited with adding oil and got to watch my mess drain out of the vent...

Here are dad's Air-to-Air pics, I'm impressed, he got some cool shots!

I also tried my hand at flying trail/slot. I had never done this, so it was a neat new learning experience!

Lake Sacangada was a playground for us!

Dad took this shot in our overhead break. Final is flown right down the river and onto the turf. It's 1800 feet long, but fortunately I had it stopped in around 1500. I had never been in a runway short of 2100 feet, and definitely not in the T-6!

I hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I did!

Thank you Mark, Dave, and Diane!

Looks like a great time!
Beautiful country up that way!
Sometimes, New York City gives the rest of the state a bum wrap.
