Fair enough, Don. Certainly not trying to rain on anyone's parade. Just keep those standards high and everything will be fine. :-)

I just don't want to DRAIN YOUR BRAIN this close to the weekend!

Seriously, we have gone over the entire system multiple times and we will AGAIN before we go fly again.

The last thing anybody wants to to screw the pooch after all this effort.

We are but custodians of this treasure.

No biggie Don, I am sure if its something serious that others should look for, you guys would be on the bull horns. Thats why I like WIX. Lots of folks willing to help out.
I bought some lottery tickets tonight, I could use some help myself. Been finding the cost of finally putting a electrical system in the N3N. Man they dont give those Jasco Alternators away.

TEXAS RAIDERS was flown back to Hobby Friday around sunset.

She behaved beautifully, especially after the two loose AN-4 bolts, four or five washers and a castle nut were removed from the rudder! :vom:

No matter how much we have been preaching about FOD someone was willing to leave dropped bolts, etc. in the rudder.

All the required fasteners were still in place, but the material that fell out of the rudder when it was inspected was all shiny and new.
We can't fault anyone but someone currently in GCW.

Needless to say the subject was addressed and we will be doing more inspections before we go up again.

Don,

Congrats again. The pictures are amazing! I'm glad someone was there to capture the moment. I know you like the B-17 stories...so just FYI: Roy Reid is on the Warbird Radio LIVE - Tuesday. He was the co-pilot on one of the B-17's headed to Pearl Harbor on December 7th. He now has the dubious distinction as being a member of the first American aircrew shot down in World War II. He'll be discussing his B-17 flight to Pearl Harbor – December 7th 1941. Show starts at 10am (EASTERN).

Matt

Dang...

Tempted as I am to say, "Yeah, Al was in a hurry to get to his next flight lesson..." You caught me!!!

This guy is good! (Retroaviation, that is...)

It WAS the take off from a different camera and a different angle.

They certainly did use flaps because I've seen photos from the same source clearly showing lots o' red on the landing roll-out!

SPANNER the corrected

Sorry, wasn't trying to publicly correct you, Don. I was just curious, that's all.

I guess I could have put some wham-de-bam-da-bama-whambam jiggy wid-it music to it, but I figured four Curtis-Wright R-1820-97s were song enough.

News of the Day

A Mr. Dan Ragan contacted the CAF about donating what I think is a masterpiece! It is the B17 in her NAVY livery as a PB-1W.
For you modelers, it was built from a Monogram 1/48th scale B17G kit.
The Radar dome under the bomb-bay must have taken a bit of extra effort.

Note the diorama details of the concrete ramp and I particularly love the oil strategically marking its territory.

As I have often said, I am only into Warbirds for the babes.
Here is my raison d'etre at the Hobby Airport 1940 Air Terminal Museum Hangar Hop last Saturday. Yoga Mama can still pull herself up the belly hatch, while alas, I can only exit from the same.
Image

Speaking of Wings Over Houston---
Rumour (with a U) has it that Bomberflight is coming to town.
All WIXens are invited to Saturday's after show dinner. It is a pay as you go affair at a local Mexican Cantina. Details upon request at ANY WOH GCW PX.
