Guys, Gary has stepped away from the NMUSAF portion of the 105-101 debacle. I suggest that no one panic.

Malcom with TAM has things well in hand. The ownership issue has been taken out of the NMUSAF hands in that they have backed off and pushed it to another office within the USAF itself. Malcom didn't buckle when threatened and apparently the NMUSAF person didn't know how to react when Malcom sent them the paperwork that the USAF itself said he needed for transfer. All the i's were dotted and Ts crossed and Malcom told them to pound sand, they didn't own them, and they weren't scrapping them, if they showed up on the museum property he would have them arrested for trespassing !

Malcom is NOT afraid of them and won't bow down to the bully tactics attempted.

Thanks for the update Rick. It sounds like Malcom has things taken care of.

Perhaps we could let him know that the Wix community is here and very interested in helping with the birds.

i spent most of today thinking of what would be the right thing to do as a memorial to gary and i thought about these two birds.
if the retro aviation sticker and stratolina t shirt ideas that were mentioned on the safe sky's thread went ahead could the profits be directed at these two? if so it would be a great memorial(along with "ol927 and seabitch).
and if this happens sign me up for three stickers and two 3xl t shirts.

Sounds like Malcolm has got things sorted out. Hopefulyl these two old warriors can be lovingly looked after and be a memorial to Gary and all that he strove to achieve!

Are there any photos of these two birds on WIX?

I have always wanted to display a F-101 and a F-4 at our museum in St. Louis since both planes were built here. If nothing else maybe I can get the local retired MAC (sorry I mean Boeing) guys here in town to help out? Of course I understand that the planes should really stay in Texas if that's where Gary really wanted them to stay but maybe I can still generate some help from the locals.

*a little bird told me that a 2nd F-105 was delivered to St. Louis from Tucson on Monday. I have not been down to see them yet but maybe I'll do that on Friday and take some photos for posting here on WIX.

I went by Gary's house and picked up all the parts for the F-101 that he had and took them back to Snyder a few hours ago. There are two more things I have to get on the next trip because I ran out of room but this chapter is pretty much closed. The Texas Air Museum and Air Force Museum will have to take it from here.

Nothing has been finalized as far as Gary's estate goes.
