I've noticed a lot of photobucket bandwith exceeded images in a lot of peoples posts. Anyone else seeing what I see? :?:

Someone posted WOH airshow photos but all I get is those photobucket bandwith images. Yet it seems a few people replied to that thread-clearly they could see the photos!! :?: :?: :? :?:

There is a limit to how many hits a person with a free photobucket account can receive in a given month. The WOH pics were there, guess they got too many hits and crossed the allowed number of hits. If it exceeds that, they block it. They suggest the user go to a PRO account that is NOT FREE. That is how they keep their doors open.

Yep...looks like SCFAN has posted too many pics in too many places.
Monthly bandwidth restrictions.

It has been a strange week, and anything to do with Gary has drawn much more attention than the usual thread. I would imaging that WIX hit count is up too. An average pic on my Photobucket account may get 30-50 hits in a day. The ones that were in "Gary Threads" hit 400-600. Really says something about how much Gary is missed and people are looking at and rereading every thread.

The photobucket bandwidth restriction is simply because they have so many images out there for all kinds of purposes. Folks who need to put up a bunch but don't want to pay for it can open multiple photobucket accounts - maybe one for the wife, one for each kid, etc. That's not too underhanded, is it?

Also, if you are using photobucket, make SURE you've got a good virus scanner/firewall and it is up to date. That site has more viruses and trojans on it than Facebook! I can count on my firewall blocking two or three hack attempts each time I connect to it to upload images.

i'm a technoknucklehead, never could crack the photo bucket thing. between that, & all you guys having trouble, & myself as well as others not being able to receive post reply notices & pm notices via email, there are some gremlins that need to be addressed. while it's all bad news, perhaps it's good news too, as it's a sign the site is growing, & perhaps exceeding it's web host's capabilities. nonetheless, maybe a major overhaul is needed.

I had to upgrade my Photobucket account when I started the Grumman post, its 25.00 a year, it was getting way too many hits. At this point its leveled out. Plus I have another account under another name.

I think Photobucket either (a) started throttling their free accounts to 10GB per month this past weekend, or (b) something went wonky on their end... I wound up with my pic posting suspended until the 18th because I overran their limit in one afternoon, surpassing at LEAST 3GB in transfers in a matter of a couple hours, according to their stats. I've had my account for several years now, and have not had any trouble with them until this week, and I've noticed broken links all over WIX, Hyperscale boards, FARK and elsewhere.

Something definitely changed, and not for the better. I've got my avatar reloaded now, thankfully, but it's still aggravating.

Lynn

I noticed all my pics were gone this AM. Deleted some from photobucket but
the balance still were not showing up. Guess I may look into the pay service to try to eliminate this problem.

You could always diversify a bit, too! I mainly use Picasa and servimg as well as one or two others on occasion.
