Like many of you arm chair aviators out in Cyberland, I'm riding the coat tails of my father's aviation exploits (40 years worth) One of his experiences that I would like to share with you is Air Crew medicals. My father having spent so much time in the aviation racket (1949-1991) has lots to talk about. However, one topic that is dear to him is how his yearly air crew medical has saved his life three times. For all those people who are members of a flight crew know they have to take a yearly medical to prove they are fit for the game. After my father retired from aviation (at 60 years old) he continued to have a yearly medical (creature of habit) He is now 78 years old and should have died three times by now. But by having his yearly medical his doctor has caught three deadly issues over the years (high blood pressure, plugged carotid artery & prostate issues) Had he not kept up this routine, I would have buried him years ago. Therefore, a word to the wise, keep up your yearly medicals.
