I saw this on another forum and would love to get some commentary on the video.

That is a lot more advanced than the glider flying I do or have done. i went to the Sierras once, but the mountain wave was mostly turbulence and very little lift.

That dive out is something. Ok if they are sure they had room. That is some very unforgiving terrain if you had to land. I have flown right over that area several times in the Spitfire going out to shows at Minter Field, Shafter and Madera years back.

Tim, do you fly gliders?

I used to fly them out of Castroville, TX. Then on to a grass strip up off of RT 471 on the way to Medina Lake.., ahh..,San Geronimo!
Alamo Soaring was the group.
2-33's, 1-35's and a 1-26. All Schweizers.., they had one Grob which was awesome to fly.., used water for ballast so i would always do a low speed pass over the field and dump the water prior to landing.., then do a tight pull up and around into the pattern.

Those were the days!!!!!!

Thanks for the vid.., never did any Ridge Soaring.. used to do a few car launches.., but we did that at the old Air Force Base just west of Castroville.., was that Medina?

Thanks again!!!
