We've posted a few new photos of the Sukhois at http://www.prideaircraft.com/flanker.htm, including a really cool night shot!

Also please note the new web address for Pride's Flanker page.

Any truth to the rumor the Flankers were sold in the last couple days?

hey Randy Haskin, since your lurking here, i have a question for you. wikipedia says the Su-27's closest US counterpart is the F-15 Eagle. what have you heard in the way of comparing the 2? thanks [from a no-body, non-pilot like me, they both look really tough]
P.S. a long time ago you said you would really like to fly warbirds like the T-6 and Mustangs. Is the Su-27 a type of plane you would like to take around the block, if you had the chance? thanks again.

Hi Tex.
Remember that these two UB's arent the top notch of the Flanker famely in terms of performance.
Beeing an UB(trainer) with more drag, puts it under par of an F-15C.

Those AL-31F engines put out about 12.000-12.500kgf wet,
which will suffer against the F-15C/D/E with F100-220E/229 engines..
So its a little tricky to compair the two on raw kenetics performance, but i suspect the F-15C will come out on top.

Thanks

No truth to that whatsoever.

I'd fly anything with wings, to be honest, if someone would teach me and give me the opportunity. I won't even turn down a ride in a 152.

The Flanker is, in many ways, equal to the Eagle. It's inferior in some ways, and superior in others. It is a very capable peer aircraft.

Yea, but the public isn't scared by a prop airplane attacking their home! :D

We're talking about a modern, current, front-line Soviet plane here, not some ancient technology prop plane - there's a big difference, IMO.

Yep, and it happened. http://www.latimes.com/videobeta/watch/ ... &src=front

No problem. The search feature is not fully enabled on this board yet, so it might not have popped up. The only reason I mention it is that it's nice to keep all of the information in one thread, that way years from now, when you go to research something, there won't be 20 million threads to look through for the info. :D
