I've been playing with my new scanner again and just submitted these to Scott to fill a gap in the registry for pictures of the Ju 88 in Dayton.

My friend Albert Dill (R.I.P.), from Merchantville, NJ shot this photo of the Ju-88 during the 1960s or 70s.



I am almost 100% sure that it was at the USAF Museum; I have several photos of some of the Japanese aircraft at the Philadelphia Naval Yard (I think) over that same period of time.

I'm pretty sure the Japanese aircraft were at NAS Willow Grove during the 1960s or 70s.

It looks like Tulio's photo offering was in Rumanian markings then, as well
as now. Was this a captured or defecting Rumanian '88? The camo has
been redone since the 60's..was the 60's photo an example of the original
color scheme as USAFM recieved her?

Yes the aircraft was flown to Cyprus by a defecting Romanian AF pilot. It was repainted and flown to the US, so markings are not the originals now or then, although they are now an accurate representation

I saw this bird several years ago at the USAF museum in Dayton, but when I saw it, it didn't look this good. Looks like it has seen some attention. Thanks for posting the photo's.

According to the USAFM website, it is indeed a Noorduyn UC-64A "Norseman".

I want to congradulate you on your great photos. Taking good pics inside that hanger is a nightmare. The lighting is horrible and everything turns out dark and fuzzy.

When we were there last year I remember them having the cage off working on it. We then went over to their restoration area and saw it. Then the next day it was back on the Ju 88. So work has been going on on it.
