Hello,

Just curious, any "updates" such as from "Down Under" on the current status of the P-39s being restored to airworthy condition? I thought that Jerry Yagen's example was getting pretty close to flying.

Any other "airworthy" projects coming along?

Thanks,

Ron W.

Anyone have any news as to when the other flying P-39 will be coming home to Texas from the UK?

Any news to when these 2 P-39s will be sitting on a tarmac next to the only other P-39 flying? 8)

3 Aircobras in the air! WOOT! I wanna see that!

Are there any more P-39 hulk/projects that are still with the Tallichet estate?

I don't have very recent info, but the first P-39 from Wangaratta has been close for a while now, and is (I surmise) in that frustrating area of waiting on a few parts that are critical.

It won't be the only P-39 from Precision, either, but the others have a way to go to reach this stage.

Sorry I can't be more precise, maybe someone else can?

The first 90% of the work takes 10% of the time. It's that last 10% of the work that takes up the other 90% of the time ;)

The other rule is:
Work out a budget & the time scale needed to restore the aircraft, then double them & you'l be in the ballpark ;)

Not getting updates about Precision anymore has really left a void. With all those Cobras, Havocs, Lightnings, etc., it was really amazing to see those airframes progressing.

There is usually an update in each issue of Classic Wings. Last issue Sea Furies and P-40s, the next issue more P-40 and maybe A-20

CraigQ, I know that having a P-39 restoration thread would depend others, Precision namely. But perhaps The FF/Military Aviation Museum could update their website to include more info on the P-39? Precision Aero seems focused on being more quiet about their work, like other restorers out there, but as the client I wonder if more information could be posted on the Museum's website? The Museum is doing a great job with showing the work on some of their other projects.

No word lately (at least in the FF shop) about the P-39, we get a few pics out of the office sent over from Jerry once in a while but the latest have been either of the Rapide or the 190. Haven't seen or heard anything about the P-39 or the Mosquito of late so can't say what stage either is at. As far as the website, that's in the hands of someone either at corporate or the museum, but I agree that it could use an update. I may be over by the museum this weekend, if so I'll mention it to someone over there.
