While turning wrenches on Pooner's Poon, we got to talking about the ghost PV's of Louisiana...So I thought it was about time to throw a little more wood on the fire, and see if I could jog some memories from past posts on missing Harpoons, or enlist the help of any newcomers to the WIX site as to the whereabouts of these aircraft....

#1... N6853C 37159 15-1125 Last listed as belonging to the bank...St. Landrys Bank of Opelousas

#2 N6857C 37250 15-1216 Same as above... last certification 11/10/98

AS a bonus...I will include #3... N7224C 37267 15-1233 Last listed as belonging to Ben Jones of Miami, Fl.

I do have one airframe that is un-identified, that is located in Branson, Mo., that could possibly be one of these mentioned aircraft...

The WWII museum in (Baton Rouge?) Louisiana is said to have a PV-2 there...I have in the past tried to contact this museum to question them on this subject, but haven't recieved an answer. Any Coon-A$$ WIX'ers (Said with love) in the area, or have info???

Thanks!!!!
Gary

A couple of wrenches I know looked at the two Louisiana birds around 2002-2003...no idea what's happened to them since. Here's an old post:

Gary,
N6853C and N6857C were both still stored at Lafayette RAP LA in Jan08.
I have no reports on N7224C.

Thanks Andy...I have done the Google Sat. photo search, but didn't locate them sitting outside at the major airports in Lafayette , Opolauses, and surounding airfields....Is RAP an airfield identifier?

Gary,
Sorry, RAP stands for Regional Airport.
The Google Earth imagery is old (mar04) and only one of the two aircraft is visible, down in the SW corner of the airport:
N30.19938, W91.99551
Both were in the same place in Jan08. There is actually a fence between them and the airport.
Best wishes,
Andy

ImageAerial Visuals - Location Dossier - - Jet Provost, PV-2, PV-2

You may have already seen this site, it's still in the restoration stage.

Hey Jeff,
We might be interested in selling/trading some parts with him, too. Drop me a PM with his e-mail if you want.
