Thanks for fixing the link! Worked MUCH better this time. Wonderful thread. Connie is a great guy, and he has some unbelievable stories to tell. You might not believe them, but smart money would be on them being more true than not!

His airplanes are nice, but I really want to go see his house. I'd heard a lot about it from Doc and Sue Houle.

Boy I guess his stories are great. When he brought the Albatross and the TBM to the FT. Lauderdale airshow in the early 90's that my dad did. He was telling some of his stories when he was filming the BOB movie. I know I will never forget them!!

I remember him showing his home movies from the making of BOB and telling war stories about it back in the 70s at OSH.

Sue Houle called Connie's house "Toad Hall"!

I flew in Doc Houle's Cessna 210 (IIRC) to an airshow with Robb Satterfield at the controls, I think it might have been at Victoria because I remember us following the San Marcos River, and Connie had brought his "Black Cat" (shiny black PBY). Somewhere, about a year before, Connie had promised me a "Lazy E" patch, and I promised I'd sew it on my flight suit. When we went up to the PBY to say hello, Connie was wearing a baseball cap with the Lazy E patch on it. (The Lazy E was his ranch brand, I was told) I asked him where the patch was that he promised me. He said just a minute, and ducked into the Cat. He came back with patch in hand. I noticed that there was clear nylon thread pieces around the edge, and he was wearing a different cap. I think he went inside and cut the patch off his cap to give it to me! Now that's quite a man in my book! I kept my promise and sewed the Lazy E patch on the chest of my flight suit (which was a bright blue back then). It showed up very well too. A lot of us were wearing them on our flight suits, just for Lefty and Lloyd's sake!

I'm glad to see that 200 mph duct tape (rather than the standard 100 mph stuff) was used to seal up the Lightning's plexi. Gotta' take care of those backseaters!
