Just came back from ICAS - for the Navy's 100 years of Naval aviation celebration they are going to be selecting historical paint schemes to repaint fleet aircraft with!! They will be looking at specific colors and units - something like the CAG paint jobs I am assuming.

Should be really cool!! and I got to meet Rick H - still wish the scooter was closer to Wendover for our show :(

Tom,

That sounds like a Great idea - look forward to seeing what kind of paint schemes we see on current Navy aircraft for the 2011 Centennial of Naval Aviation.

The Collings TA-4J and the WHF A-4B and any other A-4s that reach flying status hopefully will be prominent particpants in 2011 events. Speaking of Rick H. and the Collings Foundation, I am still hoping that they will consider re-painting their F-4D for 2011 to represent a Navy F-4B or F-4N from the 1960s/70s era. What a pair their Skyhawk and Phantom would make at 2011 air shows!

(And while I'm at it: Cavanaugh Flight Museum, please bring your Grumman F9F-2B Panther back to flying status for 2011! - I know this is more of a stretch....)

:)

I second the comment on the Cavanaugh Panther. It would be really cool to have that on the airshow circuit flying Legacy Flights, even if it was only for one year.

That would be cool - a year or so back Steve Hinton was asking around for a engine to go into the PoF Panther to. . . wonder how that search ended.

Hey Rick, I knew this probably had no chance of happening, but you got to admit that it wouldn't be as major of an effort than putting that Panther back in the air after all these years.

Looking forward to seeing your Skyhawk and Phantom in the air again, soon. Keep up the Good work!

:)

How cool would it be to see an F-18 in an overall gloss sea blue scheme? Or a tri-color blue one? Hey for that matter paint it silver with colorful section markings on the tail! The possibilities are endless. I imagine the gull gray over white scheme is a given?

Of course no 100 year celebration would be complete without a Tomcat. The Navy should pull a couple of D's out of AMARC, fly them on the show circuit for 2011 and then fly them to a museum! Or shoot them down as drones....either way....?

They could always give the F-14s to a museum group that has demonstrated the ability to maintain complex high performance military jets ! :D

RickH I think your hangar is already a little full. I am suprised that a certain Swedish jet is not on its way to Houston.

Yeah, Ken, but we could always make room for a swing wing ! We feel the need,...the need for speed !! :D

I offered on the Swedish jet but somebody was adamant that it was going into the living room ! :D

Actually, maybe the Navy can rent the Iranian F-14's just for the show season!

Trying not to hijack this thread, but do you mean this one I photographed at CA and NV shows in 2003-2005?

The Swedish jet in question is not a Draken.
