What a bunch of morons! The TSA can't do anything right, including preserving classified information. They inadvertently posted their entire classified operating manual on-line for the whole world and terrorists to see.

Unfortunately, I have to deal with the TSA every day in my job. Their incompetence and ineptitude is beyond words. This only solidifies in my mind how worthless that organization is and what a waste of time and money it is. They need some SERIOUS reform.

I feel so much safer now that the terrorists know exactly how to defeat security.

My tax dollars will be used shortly to enhance security at Chino Airport. None of the busineses without frontage will be able to receive visitors/customers. The UPS and Fed-Ex folks won't be able to deliver packages to those businesses any longer either.

Yet another installment from "The luggage inspectors of Penzance" Where everyone gets a big frilly hat and an impressive looking red sash, old women get groped by people who weren't given guns when they were Security Guards for fear they would shoot themselves and who started out as CAP cadets working airshows.

As I've said before, I'm through flying commercially because of all this B.S. and eyewash, but if I ever had to and I was selected for 'further screening' I'll just take off my clothes and lay on the Xray belt while asking in a loud voice 'what else do you want to see? did you bring the boroscope?' I don't embarass easily, and I suffer government morons even less

This reminds me of a story that happened to one of my Captain buddies who works for a major air carrier. Shortly after 9-11, when all of the flight crews were so pissed about the "harassment" they were receiving from TSA, my friend was going through security to go fly his scheduled leg. When he got to the portal, while in full uniform, the TSA agent asked him to remove his belt. He was so fed up with all of this B.S. that when he removed his belt, he "conveniently" let his uniform pants slide all the way down his legs, revealing his underwear for the whole world to see. He got talked to by a cop and they took his name and employee number down to report him to the company. After his trip, he got asked to come visit the Chief Pilot. After he told him the story of what happened, the Chief Pilot started laughing furiously and thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard. He let him go, with no discipline, other than to say, "yes, it's funny, but please don't embarrass us like that again. I don't know if I can keep a straight face when I get called into the V.P. of Flight Operations." True story!

I'm sure most of you know this, but I would NEVER, EVER pack anything valuable in any checked luggage. The TSA has unfettered authorization and access to open every single piece of checked luggage that comes through, even if they have to break the lock to get inside. What that means is that TSA agents can steal anything valuable that is inside, because they are alone and usually out of public sight. When you consider the background and intelligence level of the people doing those inspections, it's easy to see their motivation to steal. It is a BIG problem. There have been many FBI sting operations around the United States at airports resulting in arresting many TSA luggage inspectors.

I know of one person, a Hollywood videographer, who got literally ten's of thousands of dollars worth of professional camera gear stolen by these luggage inspectors. He was so upset by this theft that he got a Congressman to intervene on his behalf. Unfortunately, the Congressman gave him ZERO support and told him there was nothing he could do. The reason - the Congressman said, was that the TSA was given complete, total power and authority over such matters, and that it would take a Cabinet level person to have enough "horsepower" to get any action accomplished.

Moral of the story - if you ever pack anything valuable in checked luggage, make sure it's something that, if stolen, would not break your heart or cause you financial hardship.

Sad news. Not only for the businesses, but I presume, the end of an era for tourist-enthusiasts who are used to walking the ramp to see what goodies are out there. I've been expecting it since I started my occasional visits to Chino in 1988, seen the east side of the field get locked down, and fewer access points to the older areas. Then again, there's less to see there than in the old days, apart from the ongoing experiment to see how long it takes Magisters and Drakens to biodegrade. Well, all good things end; it was a good long run. If I get there one more time before the gestapo moves in, I'll cherish the visit.
