War Eagles Air Museum Tu-2 "Bat"

Sat Dec 12, 2009 12:31 pm

It being a beutiful day I could not resist taking a few more photos of War Eagles Tu-2. One of about a dozen that the museum owns this one is the only assembled one. I believe it is a Tu-2S.

Wow, I didn't know that the museum had 12 of those things! I thought they only had 2 or 3. Why don't they sell some of them off? I would really like to see Gerry Yagen buy one of those and restore it to flying condition. It would fit the Russian theme he has currently going on there.

thats going to need some work..

Steve, if you get a chance look for Chuck Faison aka Old Chuck, he enjoys walking through the museum with visitors and you will enjoy the time spent.

There is a PA-18 in the restoration hangar that will be painted as an L bird when completed. That might even be this year.

A recent display put together of Axis items. Notice there are no bombers! I'll see if I can rectify that.

There are a number of other displays throughout the museum.

A nuclear weapon display is in the works and sometime next year when it warms up (and after the spring winds!) there are plans to refurbish the museum's F-84F.
