Ever wondered how the feed mechanism of the M2 .50 Machine gun works. Check out the latest entry at Warbirds-Online

This would make a nice companion video to that one. I like the slo-mo at the end.

At about $3.50/round that's expensive shooting.
M-2HB about 800rd/min
M-3AC about 1000 rd/min

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3HmEyNKB5gThis is the BEST M2HB video on the web. Rob Silvers (guy in the black shooting) came down to WV to shoot some videos of my former machinegun collection in the spring of 2004. I pulled out 1 of the M2HBs I had and we shot about 800 rds to do this clip. When you see him in the frame, he's obviously shooting, closeups of the beaten area have me on the trigger...... Lots of fun, shooting locally made TALON ammo before it went through the roof. I think I paid 45 cents a round for it by the pallet. (like 3000 rds at time)....
I can say we covered the road there (all on my property) with chunks of stone the size of baseballs, also there were some pretty serious richocets, some coming back within 30 degrees of us. You would think that a relatively soft target would "hold" the bullets. Also the API rounds were shooting started quite a few small fires.....
Nice to have neighbors who don't say anything when that happens either.....

I miss Silver's videos that he used to post at subguns.com pretty regularly. He covered quite a range of weapons, and his video productions got phenomenally better with time. Always wondered why he disappeared from there. Seemed like a natural habitat for the guy!

I can't explain why Rob quit the videos. I hooked up with him after his MG-42 video (him shooting MG-42 and in one version the Rolling Stones were playing Give Me Shelter in the background).... I haven't spoken to him in about 4 years now. He did build up a pretty good collection and a NICE vault (I mean you can use it as a "man cave") to store them in. I'm guessing his interests drifted elsewhere as mine did. If you saw his "Serbu Super Shorty" video, that was also my gun and in the end my son (about 12 or 13 at the time) shooting it and saying "ooooooowwww".
Oh well, if nothing else during one of those sessions he let me shoot his Canon 20D camera and it I found out what digital photography could be, so that got me into taking pictures on a professional level.
Rob is a good guy....
