WWII Aircraft books for kids?

Looking to get my nephew a book for Christmas. He's 8 and loves Warbirds. Need easy to read but accurate.

I remember reading my cousin's copy of God is my Co-Pilot at that age. Also 30 Seconds over Tokyo might fit. I have seen some coloring books featuring warbirds with a blurb on each A/C.

I no its not a book but Ed Shipley has been working on an animated Kids series based on airshow/warbirds.
Not to often you hear the P-51/Merlin sound featured in a kids show.

What about something with alot of pics? I have both of these books. They have really great photos, and not too much commmentary on the war.

Those two titles (God/co-pilot and Thirty seconds) were part of Random Houses famous "Landmark" series of books and I would recommend them for ten year old, rather than eight. I had read almost the entire Landmark series as a kid. They are good books for starts.

Maybe you can get the kid some of the "IN ACTION" books by Squadron/signal. They have lots of photos and great drawings and perhaps they might be beyond him right now at eight, but a couple years from now they will be real handy when he starts building models and/or is getting an interest in reading that kind of material. But they have a lot of photos and drawings and great value for the money.

When I was that age, I wore out my school library's copies of a matching set of books by David C. Cooke, The Planes the Allies Flew in World War II and The Planes the Axis Flew in World War II. Brief, accessible, accurate text and a single high-quality photo of each of the famous planes. Don't know how useful it is to suggest books that have been out of print for 35 years, but if you could find a nice used copy, I haven't seen a better book on warbirds directed at the young since those.

You gotta be kidding me?! Thats awesome! Seems like just the thing to get kids excited about Warbirds, Mustangs, airshows, etc. Its like Jay Jay the jet plane except its a little more entertaining and unique. I'd say this has the potential to go on air nationally. Plus I love the fact that the jeep is voiced by Scott Menville. He played Kevin French on the short lived show "Mission Hill". But I'm sure nobody remembers that animated show.

Plus: Love the H-19 with the Russian "Sikorsky" voice! Sounds like a good amount of talent has been pulled in for this show! Im 22 and actually kind excited to see more of this.
