I found these at a thrift store.
Also picked up War Production pamphlet on Torpedo Squadron 8 with a paragraph on the new Squadron 8 flying Avengers and the successes they were having written by John S. McCain, Rear Admiral, USN.

How big is that manual??? What type of info is in it??? Consider a trade??? Somewhere I have a box of Curtiss factory stuff.
Mustin Field and the NAF factory.

If your landing to the west at Phildelphia, you can still see the facility. The east west runway is a road to a living complex just east of the large Hangar facility that is being built in the lower right of the picture. The hangar is still there and so is the seaplane ramp in front of it pictured in Rich's Scan. The old factory building to the west also still exist today.

Its mostly about work conditions, expectations, what is required to get an emergency day off ect.
It is a workers handbook.
The aircraft related stuff I have scanned.

It's from a time and place long, long ago when employers cared about their employees and their welfare, that's vaporized into 'grind that guy up and toss him out' 'squeeze everything out of her for as cheaply as you can get it then toss her out'
I think some call it 'progress'

Interesting PBY/PBN pix in the production line photo just left of the round one of the guy in the Snoopy and goggles, you can see the distinctive longer, pointy nose of the PBN. PBY's have a blunt nose, good for running over stuff, as in the case of N68740, ex RCAF9742.

51fixer,
Thanks for sharing the nice manual. I figure you probably know this, but this manual is not for the Philadelphia Naval Yard. NAF, and the overall command NAMC that this manual is about were separate from the Shipyard, although they were geographically close and at one time, the NAF was under the charge of the Shipyard. I have quite a few items in my collection from the NAF, including two parachute harnesses they made, a 1941 altimeter test chamber, serial number 1, and an N3N data plate. I also have items stocked at the Naval Yard for support of ships at sea during WWII.

Whats the Bureau # on the data plate and what you going to do with it?
