Dang! That makes me cold just looking at it! The winter of 44 was a cold wet one, I imagine that it really put a damper on the number of missions flown. You think it is bad digging your car out of 8" of snow, try doing a B-17.

65 years on & it would look like that today less the B-17, as we have had snow now for 3 days which if you didn't know is unusual for the UK.

Only yesterday the 100th ARW was once again in the snow continuing the legacy with the boxed [D], operating not too far from Thorpe Abbotts @ RAF Mildenhall

Jack, that is awesome. I drove past the b-17 at Grissom AFB this morning and it looked just like that!

One Christmas Eve I drove out to Framlingham airfield (I was stationed at Woodbridge at the time). It was pretty cool to be out at the old tower in the dark (I was single and had nothing better to do on Christmas Eve)...

Great pic..but it doesn't make me look forward to going out and scraping the freezing rain off my car when I get off work.

Perhaps not a warbird, but it gives you a small idea of what winter operations look like here areound Montreal !

Yeah, that's a LOT of snow !!!

But then again, winter flying is so much fun, once you are past the hurdle of shovelling, pre-heating, etc.:
