Some of you may have heard about this tv show, about the adventures and misadventures of Buffalo Airways of Yellowknife, NWT Canada, commercial operators of such classic aircraft as the DC-3, DC-4, C-46, L-188 Electra, PBY-5A, and CL-215. At the moment you can only watch it in Canada but my most signifigant other may have figured out how to watch it online from the USA: go to http://www.translate.google.com and then type in http://www.history.ca in the url window. If you get to the website look under the "video" tab and it should take you to the six available episodes (new one every week). GREAT entertainment! I hope it works for you all, being in Canada I can't tell if it will but I'm currently able to watch the US History channel website from up here and I'm enjoying every minute of it. At least there are trailers up on YouTube and at icepilots.com - looks pretty good, albeit with the usual enhanced-for-TV conflicts and characters, but some great aerial footage (what's with the CGI shot of a C-46 losing a wing?). I'll be looking for it!

Being in Canada I've managed to watch the last 5 or 6 episodes. Regarding your last comment on CGI content, the producers of the show are assuming that some of the predicaments or aviation terms used in the show are foreign to some viewers so they have used CGI to explain certain aviation expressions or terms. The wing breaking off was but one explaination of a situation that can result from doing something wrong. Just a side note on Buffalo Airways, Buffalo Joe who started this company back in 1970 hired my father & another RCAF pilot to ferry three of his DC-3's out of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada to Edmonton, Alberta. These DC-3's were ex-RCAF aircraft that had been put into long term storage and my father at the time was an aero-engine tech with OTU DC-3 squadron in CFB Namao (Edmonton, Alberta) (military base built back in WWII by the U.S. gov't to ferry aircraft to Alaska then onto Russia) During the 1950's Namao was used by KC-97 tankers for refueling the SAC B-52's that were flying the Arctic regions.

The DC4/C54/R5D's are former Aero Union air tankers. Used to work on them years ago. I've got some old pics of these planes I could post if anyone is interested.
