Per DryMartini
B-17C complete with the "Mary-Ann" name.
Add John Garfield as the tail gunner.

Just can't make some folks happy. (kidding of course)
The guy is rebuilding a B-17E (Desert Rat) and wants a B-17C.
I've heard the E came from the woods of Maine in the 80s.
Hey Rob how'd you Maine-iacs let this one get away?
DryMartini can you give us an update on status of B-17E "Desert Rat"?
Thanks in advance.

And not to hijack this thread anymore my pick of the day (because it changes)
would be a Dornier 335 Arrow.

I was under the understanding that "Desert Rat" is that B-17E.

I’d want a PBY-5A.

But it would be nice to have something that could get me somewhere a bit quicker when I’m in a rush. An early jet would be nice but stopping at every airport between point A & B for fuel would kill the speed factor, I guess I’ll stick with the CAT.

Maybe a Tiger Cat?

Changed my mind--P-61C

Now wait, changed my mind again--Fw 190D-13

How about this for your daily driver.

I wanna Hawker Typhoon Mk IB with an original Napier Sabre...better
make that with a trailer-load or 2 of spares and Sabres, so I can be
generous with any other Typhoon/Tempest projects requiring "bits" for
completion to flight. A small formation of Sabre's...mmmmmnnnn..... 8)
The Sabre is such a marvel of engineering..how they designed the
linkages for the operation of the sleeve-valves is fascinating. So, I guess
I'll marvel at the maintenance bills as well!!

...and in the spirit of wls3...no wait, a TA-152...no wait, a Douglas Dolphin
..no wait, a Brewster Buffalo..no wait,...a Bronco with contra Griffons...

The question was what plane would *I* like to have.

I only work on the 'E'. I *want* to own a 'C'.

:D

I'll start another thread for status.

Ryan! Good to see you here! You guys been working hard on the Boeing 40? Hope to bring the bombers to Felts in '06... spread the word!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say a Martin B-10... so ungainly and ugly that it actually seems a bit attractive!

What the heck is that, a cross between a T-38 and an FA-18?

Another good daily driver would be the Viperjet. These are non-military of course.

I like ugly and turbine powered stuff so my choice goes to the OV-1!
