Last night I watched the movie that movie we all love, Twelve O'Clock High. Although I have seen the movie 15 times or more I never get tired of watching it. Its a classic for sure! Everytime I view the movie I am in awe of Dean Jagger's performance in his portrayal of Major Stovall. The best line in the movie is when Major Stovall, holding up his left hand with the forefinger and the thumb about two inches apart, says to Major Cobb, "You know the only difference between General Savage and Keith Davenport, General Savage is about that much taller" Dean Jagger was an outstanding actor! Gregory Peck isn't too bad either.
Believe it or not, one of the most valued facts about this film is only peripherally related to flying.
The segues by Dean Jagger as Maj Stovall both at the beginning and end of the film are even today considered by many in the business to be some of the finest acting and direction (Henry King) ever done on film.
