I have always been curious about this after watching countless videos and documentaires about WW2: when we see iron bombs dropped from a B-17, B-24, B-25 or from any other plane for that matter and they impact the water, is that the bomb detonating on impact with the water or is that just a splash? In other words were the bombs sensitive enough to be set off by the impact with the water?
