P-51A 23rd FG pictures?

Mon Jan 11, 2010 12:10 pm

Anyone have any, or any of "A" models while in combat?

I was just recently reading "Sharks Over China" while flying down to San Antonio and it never occured to me til then how much use the "A" model saw in combat prior to the "B/C" models. In this case, with the 23rd Fighter Group. The "A" model has to be the most under appreciated USAAC type, with even the A-36 getting more coverage. I never gave them much thought figuring that most of the turtle deck Mustang combat history started with the Mustang Pioneer group in England, but that's not the case.

I would like to see more combat related pictures of them if any of you guys have some to share. thanks

Early Mustangs saw a great deal of service in Europe in British service as well.
