Thought i had just purchased another WWII scrapyard photo (see my other post) but this one had "aircraft scrapyard 1961" written on the back.

Any idea where ?

If you can take a 35x jewelers loop to the pic you might just be able to read the "nose art" name (in white) under the pilots window. Might be a clue there.

If 1961, probably one of the 4 Libs that were still on Morotai. Or, maybe one of the 3 Libs that are still on Angaur.

Chips Clipper might have an Oklahoma City nose turret modification. It's hard to tell for sure....more research required.

Is there any resource for cross-referencing nose art with serial# on Libs? (I realize thats a stretch). It would really be interesting to find this planes' history. If this is Morotai, in 1961, I'm pretty sure it would be a J.

I checked Wally Forman's B-24 Nose Art Name Directory (which does cross reference to tail numbers; Group and Alphabetical) but Chip's Clipper was not in there. Also checked a wider search grid on the net without result.
