Another vote for James Bigglesworth, operational fighter pilot in W.W.I and II, in between, and flying to defeat villains until the 70s.

I thought Mr Bigglesworth was Dr. Evil's bald cat. I never stop learning.

Of course if Bigglesworth had only been Dr Evil's cat, then my favourite fictitious pilot would of course be Performer Pilot Paul...

So at least PPP wasn't just shoved aside for a bald p.. um... cat.

One for the real oldies who remember the days of the wireless, Jimmie Allen. You can download some of his shows (The Air Adventures of Jimmie Allen) which revolve around Jimmie, a boy pilot who travels the world getting mixed up in all sorts of adventures and intrigue. It's quite good for a 1930's serial for kids.
